Using discrete-element method hindcasting of screw pile performance for practical design

چکیده

Screw piles have been used to support a variety of structures due their ease installation and high axial capacity. Recently, screw proposed as an alternative foundation solution for offshore renewable quiet or silent installation. Due variable geometry, design prediction requirements its effect on in-service capacity may be challenging. In this research study, the discrete-element method (DEM) is numerically recreate series onshore field tests. The aim study investigate ability DEM practical tool deployment piles. case geometric helix pitch torque tensile installed into sand investigated. results show that pile appears little torque. has potential procedure complex where simulation needs capture effects.

modeling of different subsoiler tines performance using discrete element method

for designing tillage implements it would be better to estimate soil forces exerted to the implements. many researches showed that numerical method of discrete element method (dem) is the cheapest and fastest technique for modeling granular material such as soil and especially sandy soil. in this study, paraplow and bentleg tines performance was compared with conventional tine using experimenta...

Fluid Properties Effects on Sand Production using Discrete Element Method

Oil production may be accompanied by Sand Production (SP) in the weak sandstone reservoirs. Fluid flow is an important factor in transporting the separated grains and completing the SP mechanism. In this paper, the effect of fluid parameters, fluid flow, and fluid pressure on the SP is investigated by applying the Discrete Element Method (DEM). Parametric studies show that fluid velocity is red...

Rock Slope Stability Analysis Using Discrete Element Method

Rock slope stability depends very much on the strength features of the rock and the geometrical and strength characteristics of the discontinuities (e.g., roughness, wall strength and persistence). Since a rock mass is not a continuum, its behavior is dominated by such discontinuities as faults, joints and bedding planes. Also, Rock slope instability is a major hazard for human activities and o...

Investigation of Effect of Number of Lifters on Performance of Pilot-Scale SAG Mills Using Discrete Element Method

The number of lifters of mill shell liners, mill rotation speed, and filling percentage of grinding media are three of the most important parameters influencing the charge behavior and the trajectory of ball motion inside the SAG mills, and consequently, their performance. In this paper, the milling operation of pilot-scale SAG mills using the discrete element method (DEM) is investigated. Firs...

Design of Simulation Strategy for Corn Cleaningon Discrete Element Method

The past efforts made on the corn cleaning dynamics were reviewed. Based on Discrete Element Method model, a simulation method for corn cleaning dynamics was then proposed, composing the following design factors: 1. 2-D discrete model and its related factors; 2. parities and magnitude of computation, consideration of the two factors upon application; 3. test platform design. The implementation ...
